Sam Rutherford

Sam Rutherford was invited along to the Africa Rally team meeting in April 2008 to chat to us about the various pickles and adventures that can be had if you take a small car in London and aim it at Cameroon. He is highly qualified in the area and the videos below cover the main points he talked about and the many questions asked by the teams that he answered.
About Sam
Sam has run motorbike rallies through Algeria, got 26 2CVs safely from Brussels to Benin, crossed the wilds of Libya and scoured the sands of the Sahara. He knows which borders have the friendliest guards, how to fix a puncture in a Saharan sandstorm and what the best routes are through Nigeria, Mauritania, Algeria, Mali...... hearing Sam's words of wisdom will be invaluable for all the teams, and save them having to ingest several copies of 'Overlanding for dummies'.
Has a passion for the Sahara and personal experience of over 80 countries across the globe. He co-founded www.Prepare2go.com in 1999, an organisation specialising in the planning and logistics of world-wide rallies & expeditions. Prepare2go recently supplied 7 months of logistics support, taking a direct line from Dakar to Cairo, to Matt Damon’s film crew for his soon to be released movie ‘Running the Sahara’. Sam is an active consultant for a number of organisations with regard to extraordinary logistics. Also a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society he is the author of their "Guide to Independent Overland Travel" and is chairman of their Vehicle-based Expeditions Panel.
