The Africa Rally - but now with gonads the size of elephants
Before the sun had even set on the steamy savannahs and jungles of the World's First Africa Rally we had retreated into the planning bunker at Adventurists HQ to make sure the next edition of this noble race was bigger and better in every imaginable way. We've fiddled with her juicy bits and “pimped her up,” as the youth might mumble.
With parties throughout the year, afternoon teas with adventuring hero's, musical extravaganzas, a launch to make you mum cry and off-road driving to make sure you break your car before you even set off, the Africa Rally is the perfect blend of adventurism and mayhem...
The First Leg Party
You've warmed up your car on the first leg and what you really need now is an awesome party to celebrate the fact you've not really achieved anything yet. Luckily for you laying on such a delight is just our speciality. With wild local tunes and flowing drinks we can guarantee you'll be speeding south with a mighty hangover the next morning.
Afternoon Tea with Legends of Adventure
Last year we launched The Adventurists Afternoon Tea in a bid to revive the great British tradition. Now in 09 it's coming back with a mighty sting in its Earl Grey flavoured tail, with legendary explorers coming in to tell you about how they were the first person to discover the Congo or how they had a fist fight with an elephant back in 1958. After the explorers have spun their yarns there'll be world music galore and a veritable river of G&Ts.
The Adventurists Christmas Party
Having just recovered from 2008's Christmas with Crusoe, we are planning to bring even more mayhem to your doorstep at the next Adventurists' Christmas offering. As an official member of the 09 Africa Rally you will be guests of honour at the adventuring event of the year. Come and party like tomorrow will never come and we will see what we can do about stopping the earth from revolving. What better way to prepare for the Sahara?
The Launch - Sunday 13 December, 2009
As family and friends gather to commemorate your demise and you and your co-driver congratulate each other on getting as far as the starting line, the Africa Rally will thunder forth from the starting-gates. African tunes, Ambassadors, crap cars and cheering crowds. The perfect way to set off into the unknown.
Website giggery-pokery
The new improved website will let you keep video diaries and tell the world of your exploits. Post pictures of your progress, find out where your fellow team mates are and get in touch to for some chinwagging.
We'll also help you get media coverage and give you advice on fund raising. Plus you get access to the world's most advanced visa machine, turning an otherwise bureaucratic nightmare, into a bureaucratic slightly-less-of-a-nightmare.
Charity updates and reports
You will get reports on how the charity money is used and how it changes the lives of the people who benefit from it.
Film Festival
In the winter of 09/10 we will be holding the first Adventurists Film Festival, showcasing the best of all the videos made from adventures past and warm you up to film your own masterpiece.

One of the best things about doing the Africa Rally is being part of the most awesome deserty jungley adventure, and the people you'll meet along the way. Teams regularly end up convoying across the world with new driving buddies and getting into all sorts of trouble with people they would never have met in the real world. Plus, you get us working night and day to make the world less boring and bring you the adventures your life has been missing.
We'll be holding information afternoons so you can come along and meet us and all your other fellow ralliers and we can give you useful information. Or you can come and put your fingers in your ears so your mind is not polluted with “useful” information, leaving you free to face the adventure head-on and clueless.
